AlgaVac is an aquaculture biotechnology company developing an algae-based oral delivery platform for vaccines and disease treatments in fish and other aquaculture species. The company uses genetically transformed microalgae as a cell-based production and bio-encapsulation system, creating an algal powder that can be mixed into feed to deliver vaccines through regular feeding rather than injection.
The platform is designed to reduce reliance on manual injectable vaccination, plastic medical consumables, and handling-intensive disease prevention methods in aquaculture. AlgaVac has reported proof-of-concept collaborations with Virbac, Temasek Polytechnic, and Israel’s Agricultural Research Organization, including oral fish vaccine and growth-promoting applications.
