Ayala Water & Ecology
Ayala Water & Ecology Overview
Ayala Water & Ecology is the developer of the Natural Biological System (NBS), a sustainable technology for on-site treatment of sewage and waste streams, rehabilitation of affected water bodies, and the rejuvenation of watersheds.
The NBS is used to holistically and simultaneously purify contaminated water, soil, and air. Each system is created from modular treatment compartments embedded in the natural topography to minimize energy requirements. The treatment compartments contain a combination of biotic and abiotic components, plants, and aggregates selected for their physical and chemical properties and varying internal hydraulic layouts.
The NBS aims to change the global water-energy footprint, reduce dependence on energy and maintenance, free up water resources for on-site usage, and restore natures ability to preserve and protect itself.
The PM-NBS is the companys portable and modular version of the NBS. It is easy to transport and install anywhere in the world and could fill a major technical gap, especially in remote areas lacking good water and where conventional decentralized systems are not feasible due to technical and operational difficulties, a lack of reliable energy resources, the need for skilled technical teams, and cost.
Ayala Water & Ecology Climate Tech relevance
Water and climate change are intimately linked: extreme weather events are making water more scarce, more unpredictable, more polluted, or all three, and the energy required for water treatment and sanitation mostly comes from fossil fuels, further contributing to greenhouse gas emissions and climate change. Ayala Water & Ecology provides sustainable and steady water security and clean fresh water availability without the need for energy, meaning that it does not rely on fossil fuels. It does this through its use of the Natural Biological System (NBS™), which combines physical, chemical, and biological filtration through the use of plants, microorganisms, and gravity, ensuring that its filtration provides clean and fresh water while embracing nature's inherent potential.
