Bioplasmar
Bioplasmar Overview
Bioplasmar's technology provides a method for processing large amounts of organic waste into biodegradable material that is used for production of fully biodegradable products.
One of the company's products is the Bio&Pot, a biodegradable pot that can be placed directly into the soil. It disintegrates within weeks after planting, providing additional nutrition for the plant itself. Another of the company's products is the Bio&Build, which is a surface made out of Bioplasmar's organic waste materials that ensures a stable construction floor in swelling soil. This surface serves as long as needed and then biodegrades naturally underneath the concrete. Bioplasmar also created the Bio&Trap, a disposable trap that provides protection against certain flies, and the Bio&Tray, a biodegradable propagation and growing tray.
Bioplasmar Climate Tech relevance
Over one-third of plastic produced is intended for one-time use, and a majority of it is disposed of within one year of its production, ultimately ending up in various natural environments spanning from the polar regions to the equatorial regions. Around 8 million tons of it enter the oceans each year. Bioplasmar aims to establish itself as the leading industry provider for plastic alternatives by transforming green waste into sustainable and environmentally friendly products, thus contributing to the local circular economy, reducing fossil and non-renewable products, and reducing the carbon dioxide (CO2) footprint. It does this by using patented technology for injection molding using existing industrial injection machines, allowing for controlled biodegradation in soil, and producing compounded organic granulates at scale.
