Melcap has developed a noninvasive system for treating obesity based on a disposable and ingestible stimulating capsule with variable volume that can be guided wirelessly from outside the body. The capsule is positioned in the gastrointestinal tract and fixed at a targeted location using a magnetic system attached to the body.

Melcap seeks to fight the global obesity epidemic with its goal of helping one billion overweight people fulfill their hopes of becoming healthier and more fit. The company has applied for IP protection for its various capsule designs, and the system was issued a notice of allowance from the U.S. Patent Office.
