Molecular Detection is developing SEPSIS-xxpress, a hospital-based instrument for rapid sepsis diagnosis and pathogen profiling. SEPSIS-xxpress provides doctors with the specific pathogen and antibiotic-resistance profile necessary to treat infection in the critical early hours.

The SEPSIS-xxpress system comprises an instrument platform with embedded touchscreen computer and test kits with single-use, disposable cartridges pre-loaded with all needed reagents. Hospital staff cansimply draw a patient's blood sample, insert the vacutainer into a test cartridge, and start the test. The comprehensive diagnosis is then presented on-screen in less than threehours.
