NakAI develops vessel cleaning and inspection solutions designed to preserve and improve the ocean’s health by significantly reducing millions of tons of air and water pollutants and minimizing the transmission of aquatic invasive species.
The company has developed a fully autonomous in-transit hull-cleaning robot to address the serious issue of biofouling.
NakAI’s robot and docking station always travel with the ship to remove early-stage slime and biofouling while the vessel is in transit. In addition, NakAI performs ongoing inspections of the ship’s hull. Artificial intelligence and machine-learning algorithms react to sea and water flow conditions instantly and generate hull assessment reports, preventive maintenance, and sustainability insights.

NakAI Robotics Climate Tech relevance
CO2e pollution emitted by the worldwide merchant fleet accounts for about 7% of global greenhouse gases (GHG) and is increasing yearly. NakAI can directly eliminate thousands of tons of CO2e emissions per vessel per year by reducing vessels’ surface resistance and added drag through proactive hull cleaning.
One of NakAI’s potential customers with a fleet of tankers estimates its savings will amount to at least 10m/t per tanker per day, which translates into a minimum of 150 million tons of GHG savings in 2030.
