Ophthalmic Sciences has developed the IOPerfect, a contact-free, image processing-based intraocular pressure (IOP) measurement device designed for in-home telemedicine. Using a VR-like headset, the mobile product uses artificial intelligence algorithms to analyze captured video imaging and provide fast, reliable, user-friendly measurement of IOP, a key biomarker for monitoring and treating glaucoma.
Patients can easily and safely wear the smart headset to monitor their IOP at home anytime. Controlled air pressure is released over the patient's eyes, and a micro-video camera captures the difference in response to pressure on the internal versus the external blood vessels. An AI algorithm then analyzes the processed video to calculate the patient's IOP. The results are immediately delivered to a cloud-based app for telediagnosis by clinicians.
The company's tonometer solution enables highly accurate asynchronous remote monitoring, helping ophthalmologists and optometrists save time while improving patient outcomes and reducing costs for clinics, hospitals, and telehealth providers.
Ophthalmic Sciences is a portfolio company of eHealth Ventures.
