Orca Surgical develops solutions for refractive surgery, keratocounus, refractive enhancement, and recurrent erosions of the cornea. Its Epi-Bowmans Keratectomy (EBK) procedure is a new treatment paradigm for laser refractive surgery. EBK removes the epithelium in a safe, quick, and painless fashion, providing a treatment bed for both refractive surgery CXL and other applications, expediting patient recovery time.
The procedure is based on the Epi Clear device, a single-use polymer epikeratome device designed to carry out precise epithelium surface removal. The device gently sweeps the epithelial surface and simultaneously collects discarded cells into the multiblade tip for thorough removal. The EBK procedure leaves clear borders that augment epithelium periphery growth in order to shorten recovery time and reduce pain during epithelial healing.
