About
SafeUP is a community-based mobile app that allows women to protect each other in real time. Its solution is based on the situational crime prevention theory, which was validated by 83,000 academic papers and proven effective by law enforcement agencies in the United States, United Kingdom, and other countries.
When a user is in an uncomfortable area, she can turn on Safe Walk and join a conversation with other women in the same situation (and Safe-volunteers) and immediately feel more confident.
Meanwhile, the technology monitors her behavior and, if necessary, can automatically activate the Help Me Now tool.
When a user feels at risk, she can call for help with the Help Me Now tool. The company sends an alert to the 30 closest users, of whom three will join a video call and get her location so they can reach her quickly and pull her away from the situation. If necessary, they can also call the police and the user's relatives.
