Silib is developing nano-structured silicon anodes by using a novel, low-cost, and high-mass loading process without the use of catalysts, graphite, or binders. The theoretical capacity of batteries that use silicon as anodes is 4200 mAh/g, which is superior to the theoretical capacity of most commercially available lithium-ion batteries that use graphite. The increased anode capacity enables a reduction of the battery size for the same energy content or higher capacity.
