Citi's Technology Innovation Lab in Tel Aviv was established in 2011. The main objective of the lab is to define new needs and opportunities in the financial arena and provide cutting-edge tools for the financial markets. The lab develops technologies designed to serve Citi’s international customers in a range of areas, with an emphasis on solutions in the worlds of data, AI, blockchain and cyber security.

In 2021, Citi expanded its operations in Israel and opened a new R&D group to develop new tools and services for Citi developers worldwide. The new Engineering Architecture Practices group is a team of experts aiming to transform the working environment of the tens of thousands of developers in Citi and provide them with a smooth approach to developing and scaling software across the many different technologies Citi supports.
