About
Corning Inc develops and manufactures specialty glass and ceramics. The company provides glass for notebook computers, flat-panel desktop monitors, LCD televisions, and other information display applications; optical fiber, cable, hardware, and equipment products for the telecommunications industry; ceramic substrates for gasoline and diesel engines in automotive and heavy-duty vehicle markets; laboratory products for the scientific community and specialized polymer products for biotechnology applications; advanced optical materials for the semiconductor industry and the scientific community; and other technologies.
One of Corning's strategic divisions is Corning Optical Communications Wireless Division, which has a branch and an established company in Israel. Corning began activities in Israel with the 2011 acquisition of MobileAccess. The Israeli subsidiary, now called Corning Optical Communications Wireless Ltd, was integrated into Corning Cable Systems (Corning's telecommunications business segment). Today, the Israeli subsidiary develops distributed antenna system solutions for wireless coverage inside buildings. In 2020, it was announced that the Israeli R&D center is developing the Small Cell technology that allows the use of Corning's hybrid optical cable, which incorporates copper wires, in a way that enables a stable power supply to the deployment site and helps communication operators to expand the 5G infrastructure.
