Nvidia Israel Technologies Ltd was opened in 2016 as a design center that focused on the research and development of deep learning and artificial intelligence applications. In 2018, the company announced the formation of another AI research group in Tel Aviv. In 2019, NVIDIA acquired Israeli chipmaker Mellanox Technologies and absorbed its R&D activities.
In 2022, Nvidia established a new design and engineering group that will lead the development of next-generation Nvidia central processing units (CPUs). In 2023, The company has announced that it will build an AI generative supercomputer in Israel called Israel-1.
