I am a co-founder of Semantic Interfaces, where we develop speech and text NLU technology. I am an experienced computational linguist, with background mainly in statistical parsing and lexical semantics. My NLP experience includes rule based and machine learning approaches - both supervised and unsupervised. My field experience led me to see the need for the solution that SI is developing: A simple yet linguistically sound platform for semantic analysis. Our NLU engine is designed for empowering user interfaces, both text and voice, with the power of Natural Language Processing or more accurately - Semantics! We translate user commands into application specific command language. The application vendor can easily specify translations and meanings through a flexible and friendly knowledge development environment. In addition to understanding, our semantic model yields application-specific improvement of speech recognition output. We achieve a dramatic reduction in the number of unintelligible spoken utterances - on the way to make speech enabled applications respond and communicate much better.
