HERE provides mapping data and related services to individuals and companies. HEREcaptures location content such as road networks, buildings, parks, and traffic patterns. It then sells or licenses that mapping content, along with navigation services and location solutions to other businesses such as Alpine, Garmin, BMW, Oracle, and Amazon.com. HERE is owned by a consortium of German automotive companies (namely Audi, BMW, and Daimler).

HERE Innovation Center Tel Aviv, an Israeli R&D center, was opened in November 2016. The center employs data scientists and professionals in machine learning and data science and is responsible for the development of mobile services.

In 2020, the R&D center closed.
